Council Examine NAMA-style Body To Aid Social Housing Delivery

Clare County Council is to examine the possibility of setting up a NAMA-style body to accelerate the delivery of social housing.

It follows a proposal by Meelick Councillor Cathal Crowe who says Special Purpose Vehicles can achieve more in a shorter timeframe, as they don’t have to operate as public bodies.

It’s in response to the growing social housing waiting list, which currently has 2,500 applicants as well as the number of homeless in the county which rose to 43 in May.
