Council Eases Post-Storm Flooding Fears

Clare County Council says it doesn’t anticipate widespread flooding here as the thaw following Storm Emma continues.

Council crews have been out again today clearing the remnants of the storm and report that conditions around the county have generally improved significantly on yesterday.

However, the Council is warning that some back and tertiary roads may still be impassable and so to excercise caution.

Elsewhere, most services have returned to normal today and Irish Rail and Dublin Coach services are running as usual. All Bus Eireann routes except Route 350, which is only operating between Ballyvaughan and Galway, are operating as normal.

Met Eireann has downgraded the Weather Warning for Clare from Orange to Yellow, and Irish Water is asking customers to preserve water where possible to allieveate pressure on reserves.

Attention is turning now to the melting snow which is expected to raise river levels and prompt flooding in parts around the Country over the next few days.
