Clare County Council has defended it’s decision to close car parks at popular attractions in the county.

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, and following excessive numbers at some of the banner’s beaches and parks, the local authority took the decision to block traffic from entering the likes of Lahinch and Kilkee beaches.

The move also affects public parks including the Active Ennis John O’Sullivan Park Lees Road, which has caused anger in some quarters, with many drivers instead choosing to park on the main road outside.
