Clare County Council is investing an additional €135,000 next year in an effort to curb anti-social behaviour among local authority tenants.

The Council has 2,630 social housing units at present, and while anti-social behaviour has been reported in only a small number of those, it has been raised as a persistent problem by Councillors this year.

The increased spend will go towards an enhanced estate management unit to support existing staff in addressing anti-social behaviour.

The investment forms part of increased funding for housing, which also covers homeless services, and the Council’s Director of Finance Noeleen Fitzgerald says that move has been taken in response to significant demand.
