Council asked to engage with Clare public over running of dog pound

Animal welfare groups are calling on the local authority to engage with the public over the running of the local dog pound.

A protest has taken place outside Clare County Council's office today over an expected change in the running of the facility which up until now has been operated by the ISPCA.

Cork-based company ACS is believed to be in the running to take over the facility and while a decision was due in late August, no announcement has yet been made.
