“No Way Of Knowing” How Coronavirus Will Hit Housing Market

An Ennis auctioneer says there is no way of knowing how badly the coronavirus is going to hit the housing market in Ireland.

It comes as the latest index from the Real Estate Alliance has revealed that across the 12 months up until the virus outbreak, the price of the average three-bed semi in Clare fell by 5.3%, to €180,000.

The first three months of 2020 brought increased first-time buyer activity and higher transaction levels than the second half of last year but for now, the pause button has been pressed on the housing market.

Liam Browne of REA Paddy Browne in Ennis says we’re in an uncertain phase right now so it’s difficult to predict how things will go.
