Kilrush and its surrounding areas saw 20 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the two weeks between the 10th of November and this past Monday the 23rd. It compares to 15 cases diagnosed there between the 3rd and the 16th of this month.

It means the West Clare region’s rate has gone up slightly from 71.4 to 95.3 per 100,000 – however, it’s still below the falling national average of 107.8.

The four other electoral areas in this county continue to see its virus rates drop.

The most dramatic of these is in Killaloe, whose rate of 29.8 is now one of the lowest in the country after just six cases were confirmed there in the last fortnight.

While Shannon’s rate of 111.9 is slightly above the nationwide average, it still marks a drop of more than 25% in that region inside a week.

After less than 5 cases were confirmed here last night, Clare’s overall rate now stands at 75.7 – only six counties are lower.
