Five Clare Towns And Villages To Receive Funding To Adapt To COVID-19 Pandemic

Five Clare towns and villages will share over 114,000 euro in funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme

It’s part of 2.8 million Euro in funding approvals from the Department of Rural and Community Development – that was announced as part of the July Stimulus Package – to help rural towns and villages to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Rural and Community Development – is providing the funding – to help communities to shop, socialise and work safely in light of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Of the 114,000 allocated to County Clare – the largest amount of 29,700 will go to Killaloe – to promote social distancing in main pedestrian areas.

25,000 euro goes to Tuamgraney for improvements to the East Clare Memorial Park – including footpaths, seating and boundary wall.

Carrigaholt will get 24,229 euro to provide outdoor tables and seating with temporary awnings.

Kilkee receive 22,295 euro to allow for social distancing in the Playground, while 13,050 euro will help provide a social distancing community meeting space in Tulla.

In total, the funding will benefit 106 towns and villages throughout every county in Ireland.

Minister Humphreys said “It is vitally important that footfall is increased in rural towns and villages by supporting them to adapt to this ‘new normal’ as a result of COVID-19”.
