Events Affected By Covid-19

As the situation regarding the Coronavirus continues to progress certain events and occasions have been affected. 

As a result, there have been many organisations who have decided to cancel certain events. Please find below a list of occasions which will not go ahead. If you would like to notify us of an event which has been postponed please get in contact with us via email @focus.clare.fm – please leave details of your event and contact details and we can add it to the list.

As it stands, these events are affected:

  • Clare Drama Festival, which was due to run in Scarriff from March 19th-28th, has been cancelled.
  • Official Opening of a new Peer Support Centre in Kilrush for the West Clare Mental Health Association on March 18th will not go ahead.
  • The Clare Association Muintir an Chláir awards dinner due to take place on Saturday 28th March in Treacy’s West County Hotel, Ennis, has been postponed for at least three months.
  • The Club Clare fundraiser for Clare hurling teams, which was to honour the 1995 All Ireland winners, has been postponed until Friday, May 29th (provisional date)
  • Make A Wish Foundation collection day on March 13th. They’re holding a virtual day instead, on www.makeawish.ie
  • The Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day has been postponed, it had been due to take place on March 27th.
  • St. Patrick’s Day Parades throughout Clare, including Ennis are cancelled.
  • ‘An Evening With Eugene Lambe’ in Corofin on March 12th is cancelled.
  • CF Ireland have made their flagship ’65 Roses Day’ an online-only event.
  • The night of song and stories with live video recordings by John Casey, scheduled for Kilshanny House this Saturday evening 14 March, has been cancelled.
  • The Crusheen Apostolic Society Display for this Sunday 15th March has been deferred for a later date.
  • Coffee Morning for Ennistymon Hospital next Monday 16th is post-poned until further notice.
  • This is a notice to inform the public that cooraclare bingo is cancelled on Sunday night till further notice in the interest of public safety due to coronavirus.
  • In light of this morning’s Government announcement, the GAA, An Cumann Camógaíochta and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association have decided to suspend all activity at club, inter-county and educational levels until March 29 (inclusive) from midnight. This is to include all games, training and team gatherings at all ages and all grades.
  • Ennis Community Centre Bingo, and bingo in Cooraclare, is cancelled until further notice.
  • The Amateur Drama Council of Ireland have had to take the decision to cancel the remainder of the 2020 drama festival circuit from 18:00 today Thursday 12th March. This means that the remainder of the West Clare Drama Festival in Doonbeg cannot go ahead. Organisers will be in contact with patrons who have pre booked tickets regarding refunds.
  • All performances, events, gatherings and activities in glór will be cancelled (or postponed where possible) from 6pm on March 12th, 2020 until Sunday 29th March.
  • Red Cross Clare have decided to call off all fundraisers until Friday 3rd April 2020
  • A poker classic (due to take place on Friday night) and a related raffle (Sunday) planned for Morrissey’s in Carrigaholt have been cancelled.
  • Kilkee Bingo & Community Lotto is cancelled until further notice
  • After consultation with Health professionals, businesses and the community on the Island of Inis Oírr have asked that tourists not be carried to the island until March 31st.
  • Consairtín 2020 has been cancelled.  The National Concertina Convention was due to take place in Ennis from 16th to 19th April. Consairtín 2021 will be held from 8th to 11th April next year. All details will be on www.consairtin.ie
  • A host of pubs have announced they’re closing voluntarily over the coming weeks amid the ongoing public health restrictions.
