The Mayor of Ennis is warning that Clare’s live register figures will worsen significantly before we see an improvement.

The CSO’s monthly data for March has revealed that across the past month, there’s been an increase of 14% in the number of people on the live register here, meaning 5,473 people are claiming some form of unemployment benefit.

That’s an overall rise of 679 in the space of four weeks, with COVID-19 having a significant impact on the economy, while Ennis accounts for 585 of those alone.
