Clare’s COVID-19 Total Hits 151 As 15 New Cases Are Confirmed

Fifteen new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Clare today, bringing the county’s total to 151.

41 more deaths have also been announced, meaning a total of 571 lives have been lost nationally.

The age range of the deaths to date is from 23 to 105 years old, with 83 the median age, while 330 of the cases resulted in hospital admissions, with 46 of those in the ICU.

Of the 41 deaths added to the database today, 35 are located in the east of the country, two in the north west and four here in the west.

35 of the patients had underlying health conditions.

In total, there have now been 14,758 confirmed diagnoses of COVID-19 in the Republic of Ireland, with exactly half of those in the capital.

In Northern Ireland, meanwhile, there have been 2,338 confirmed cases of the virus, with 193 deaths.

Dr. Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said: “This week the National Public Health Emergency Team emphasised the importance of testing in interrupting the transmission of COVID-19 in community residential settings including nursing homes.

“This sector remains a priority for our focused attention and we will continue to monitor and support them through this outbreak.”
