Clare Government TD Still Believes Limited Form Of COVID Free Travel

Clare’s Fianna Fail TD believes a limited form of ‘COVID free’ air travel could still take place at Shannon Airport this summer.

It comes as it’s been confirmed that arrivals from France, Germany and the US won’t face mandatory hotel quarantine, despite recommendations from public health officials.

In total there are 58 high risk states from where people coming to Ireland must book into the quarantine system, including Palestine, the Wallis and Futuna Islands, as well as Puerto Rico.

Meelick Deputy Cathal Crowe says negotiations between Ireland and other countries on deals to resume free travel remain ongoing.

He believes there is a possible opportunity for some sort of travel to take place from mid-summer.
