25 New COVID-19 Deaths In Ireland; One New Case In Clare

Another 25 people with COVID-19 have died in the Republic, while another 343 new cases linked to the virus have been confirmed.

The death toll now stands at 1,286 while there have been a total of 21,176 confirmed cases.

One additional acase has been reported in Co. Clare bringing the total here to 237.

The figures, published by the National Public Health Emergency team show that as of Thursday evening, the median age of all cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Republic is 49, while the number hospitalised as a result of the virus is 2,785.

58% of cases of the virus presented in women while 42% were in men.

Of those hospitalised, some 368 had been admitted to intensive care, while as of last night, there were 99 people in ICU… that’s the first time the figure has been below 100 in more than a month.

In total, 5,973 cases of the diseases are associated with healthcare workers while community transmission accounts for 63% of cases.
