Conway Welcomes Moves To Establish Independent White Collar Crime Body

Clare’s Senator insists it’s time we deal with white collar crime with more intensity in this country.

It comes as Cabinet Ministers are today considering changes that would set up a stand-alone agency called the Corporate Enforcement Authority.

It would have enhanced search and entry powers and heightened ability to gain access to electronic records and follows shortcomings in the existing ODCE highlighted in the wake of the trial of former Anglo Irish Bank chief Seán Fitzpatrick.
