Condemnation Following Athlete Attack

There's been widespread condemnation of an attack on a Clare based athlete in Limerick last week.

22 year old Ethiopian national Labeta Debela, who currently resides at the refugee centre in Knockalisheen in the South-East of the county, was set upon by two men while out running on the Knockalisheen Road in Limerick city last Thursday.

Gardai only became aware of the attack yesterday.

Mr Debela was visciously beaten by the men, and was knocked unconscious, and required treatment at the Mid-Western Regional hospital in Limerick.

He has since been released.
