Concern Over Timeframe For Introduction Of Mobile Phone Policy In Schools

The principal of a West Clare secondary school is expressing concern that new rules to restrict the use of phones at school won’t be implemented in time for the next school term.

Education Minister Richard Bruton is now requiring all schools to consult with parents, teachers and students on the use of phones and tablet devices and to publish a Parent and Student Charter in line with national policy.

Some schools have already introduced an outright ban on phones on the schools grounds – as things stand, it’s left up to individual institutions.
