Concern As Overcrowding At UHL Rises Significantly Despite A Dip In National Figures

A former Clare chair of the HSE’s Regional Health Forum West insists something has to be wrong in the MidWest, with trolley numbers here bucking the national trend by rising significantly.

The INMO’s monthly trolleywatch report has revealed that there has been a 37% increase in overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick in the space of a year.

This is at a time when the number of people left waiting for beds at hospitals nationally has fallen by 4%.

Meanwhile, today’s daily trolleywatch report has revealed that UHL is once again the most overcrowded hospital in the country, with 43 patients waiting on a bed.

It’s 13 more than the next busiest facility in the country.
