Concern That Increase In Farmers Workload Is Leading To Jump In Work Accidents

Concern is being expressed in Clare that an increase in farmers’ workloads is resulting in a rise in the number of accidents on farms.

Figures from the Health and Safety Authority show that last year, 47 people died in the workplace – and 24 of those were on farms.

But the report shows that safety inspections on farms fell by a third – while the number of workplace fatalities last year was the second highest in the past 10 years.
