Concern That Dropping Unemployment Levels Not Sustainable

A West Clare Councillor is expressing concern that a positive trend in employment levels in rural parts of this county is not sustainable.

Figures released by the CSO show that North and West Clare have recorded their lowest unemployment levels in over a decade, as the numbers entering dole queues continue to fall.

In all, 5,138 people around this county are now claiming some form of unemployment benefit, down almost 250 in a month and 700 in the space of a year.
