Concern In Clare Over Impact Over Policing Of New Drink Driving Laws

A Clare Councillor has criticised the way in which Gardaí are policing drink driving legislation.

Fianna Fáil’s Alan O’Callaghan says people are suffering undue stress when they are stopped for mandatory alcohol breath testing, particularly in mornings.

Under legislation enacted late last year, drivers caught over the permitted blood alcohol limit face an automatic disqualification, in a change which has been roundly criticised by a number of rural representatives.
