Concern Over Apparent Increase In ‘Professional Beggars’ In Clare

Concern is being raised about an increase in the number of ‘professional beggars’ operating around Clare.

The July meeting of Clare County Council has heard that beggars have been targeting many of Clare’s tourist hotspots, as well as operating on the streets of Ennis.

In some cases, it’s estimated they can make up to €90 a day while it’s also claimed they move location frequently so they won’t be seen by the same people who donate.
