Two projects from Clare are being considered as part of plans to invest €100m in new sports facilities
There are two streams under the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund – one which aims to bring projects to tender stage, and another which aims to bring projects from tender to completion.
After considering projects locally, Clare County Council has given its backing to two projects, one in each category.

One proposes to construct a full-size basketball court on the grounds of Kilrush Community School, and has also been backed by the local basketball club, while the Council’s also backing Clare GAA’s application for an all-weather playing pitch at Caherlohan, Tulla.
A government decision is awaited on the applications.
