€100,000 was allocated towards the development of the plan under the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund.

Niamh O’Callaghan from the Love Shannon Group insists it’s vital that the plan is acted on:

An application for the Shannon Venue project was denied two years ago to alow for further investigation of the project, to see if it fits in with Clare County Council’s overall development plan.

Chairman of the Board of the Shannon Venue, Derek Barrett says they’ve been actively engaging with the local authority and he’s hopeful that a civic community space will be central to the plans.
