Colleran Molloy Calls For National Review Of Business Rates

Calls have been made in Clare for commercial rates to be examined at a national level in to tackle the high number of vacant businesses.

New figures from Geodirectory show that almost one in four available units in the town are currently vacant – the third highest number in Munster, while in Kilrush, nearly a quarter of businesses are vacant and in Ennis, a fifth are empty.

Clare’s annual rate of valuation is the fourth highest in Ireland, behind only Kerry and Cork City and Council.
