Colleran-Molloy Calls For Moves To Help Those In Mortgage Distress In Clare

Calls have been made in Clare for a body to be set up to buy distressed mortgages and lease houses back to the owner, so people don’t end up on the streets.

The National Housing Co-Operative Society would acquire mortgages from those struggling and rent the home to them at an accepted rate of rent.

It would allow the tenant to eventually buy back their mortgage if they are in a financial situation that allows them to.
