Starting in the North of County Clare, the roads around Corofin, Kilfenora and Carron are very slippy.

In Ennis, the main M18 dual carriageway is in a bad condition with surface water freezing making the route very dangerous.

Gardaí say the Ennis to Ennistymon road is particularly bad with patches of black ice.

Other routes that motorists are asked to avoid are the Ballyhannon and Castlefergus roads in Quin, Cappa in Kilrush, back roads in Shannon, the outskirts of Tulla village

Throughout East Clare, roads are in a bad condition, Killaloe, Ballina, Scariff, Ogonnelloe and Bodyke are all slippy with ice in places.

Gardaí are advising people to avoid travelling if at all possible but if they must do so to drive extremely slow.
