Clare’s Top Garda Admits Overtime Cuts Pose Challenge

Serious concern has been raised over an unprecedented move to cut garda overtime in the run up to Christmas.

Senior Managers within an Garda Síochana have been told there isn’t enough money to pay for overtime for the rest of the year, and as a result it’s being reduced throughout the country.

The Government is now being called on to release extra funds, to prevent what the Garda Representative Association has described as a Christmas gift for criminals.
