Clare’s Sinn Fein TD hopes Brian Stanley’s statement in the Dáil on controversial tweets he posted will bring an end to the matter.
The Laois-Offaly TD deleted his Twitter account after coming under pressure over tweets about the activities of the IRA and Tanaiste Leo Varadkar.
He’s due to address the Dáil this afternoon about the matter but the party has said he won’t step down as chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
