Clare’s Senator has condemned the leaking of a report into Garda overtime as causing ‘unnecessary alarm’.
It’s after it emerged that next year’s budget for overtime in policing will be lower than it was this year.
Acting Garda Commissioner John Twomey told the Oireachtas Justice Committee that management must stay within their budgets next year, particularly in light of increasing numbers of Gardaí joining the force.
However, Senator Martin Conway, who is Fine Gael’s Seanad Justice Spokesman, says they’ve been given reassurances it’s not an issue:
