A Covid 19 vaccination clinic in Shannon was thrown into disarray today after issues with the delivery of syringes needed for its administration.

Supplies of the Pfizer vaccine were delivered to Shannon medical centre this morning, but the specialised syringes needed to administer it did not arrive.

As a result, staff at the clinic had to call local hospitals and pharmacies to obtain the necessary equipment, to allow the clinic to finally get underway this afternoon.

GP Dr Yvonne Williams has told RTÉ that because they could not get the exact supplies that they needed, it has proven very difficult for the staff there to extract the maximum number of doses from each vaccine vial.

Clare FM has contacted the HSE for comment.
