Clare TD Concerned About Possible “Brexit” Following UK Election

Three of Britain's main political party leaders have quit their roles in the aftermath of the country's general election.

The Conservatives have won an overall majority in the House of Commons, confounding opinion polls and sweeping David Cameron back into 10 Downing Street.

In the run-up to the election, Prime Minister David Cameron pledged to renegotiate the terms of their EU membership and then hold an in/out referendum on Britain's future within Europe.

He's re-iterated that promise today, and the vote looks likely to be held by 2017.

A recent report warned that Ireland's economy could suffer to the tune of 4 billion euro a year if Britain left the Union.

Speaking to Clare FM, Fine Gael TD Pat Breen, chairman of the Oireachtas Foreign Affairs Committee said there's concerns here over the possibility that Britain will leave the EU.
