Clare’s Fianna Fáil Senator says the idea that people under 30 should be prioritised for the covid-19 vaccine flies in the face of everything the Irish people have come to accept in recent weeks.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly had asked health officials to assess if vaccinating under 30s ahead of those aged 30 to 60 was an option to keep disease levels down.

But this led to criticism from opposition parties he was undermining the current age-based approach and Minister Donnelly has since said younger people will not be vaccinated ahead of older groups.
