Clare Sees Biggest Decline In School Enrolments In The Country

Clare has seen the biggest decline in school enrolments in the country.

The Department of Education’s latest analysis of changes in primary and post primary enrolments, shows the banner is among several rural counties where pupil numbers have fallen.

The figures, which are broken down by 31 local authority areas, show there were 80 fewer Clare enrolments, down from 13,682 in 2017 to 13,602 in 2018.

The strongest growth in the country centres around Dublin, as well as Limerick, Galway and Cork, which are all university cities.
