Clare Schools to benefit from Summer work Scheme.

39 Primary and secondary schools across Clare are getting mini facelifts over the coming weeks with the return of the Summer Works Scheme.

With the schools now on holidays builders are set to move in over the coming days to carry out improvments

It will also create much needed jobs in the local construction sector.

The 2009 Summer Works Scheme, covers school projects such as electrical and mechanical works, roof and window replacements, and  structural improvements.

It was deferred last year, much to the anger of teachers  to allow the Department’s Planning and Building Unit to focus on larger-scale building projects.

A total of 29 national and 10 secondary schools in Clare are set to benifit this summer including primary schools in Ruan, Miltown Malbay  Corofin , Kilmaley, Inagh  Quilty and Killaloe .. and post primary schools in Ennis, Kilkee, Tulla, Ennistymon Lisdoonvarna and Scarrif.

Commenting on works Junior Minister and Clare TD Tony Kileen says he’s delighted so many premies int he county are set to benifit and that the investment will also create much-needed jobs in the local construction sector during July and August.’
