A Killaloe-based representative of Safe Ireland has expressed shock that a culture of “trying to whitewash the reality of the failings within our policing system” remains.
Caitríona Gleeson is reacting to comments by the Head of the Garda Analysis Service, who’s said that the misclassification of crimes, particularly homicide, has far-reaching impacts on policing.
Two civilian members of the Gardaí have told the Oireachtas Justice Committee that having poor data affected policing and policy, and left some women at risk.
