Clare Rural SPC Chair Says Action Not Words Needed On Rural Policy

The Chair of Clare’s Rural Strategic Policy Committee says action rather than words are needed to improve the development of villages and towns here and elsewhere.

It comes after the Government unveiled its new plan for the future of rural Ireland, which includes setting up hundreds of remote working hubs nationwide, including in this county.

The ‘Our Rural Future’ plan will see one billion euro spent on restoring vacant buildings in towns and villages nationwide, but it has been criticised as being vague on detail.

Nonetheless, Maghera-based Fianna Fail councillor Pat Hayes says the initiative is a big opportunity for rural Ireland.
