The Road Safety Authority is appealing to all road users to practice extreme caution during the cold snap.
A nationwide yellow warning is in effect until Saturday, with freezing conditions and snowfall forecast.
There were a number of minor crashes in Clare this morning, after freezing temperatures overnight resulted in treacherous conditions in some areas, though there were no reports of any injuries.
