A Clare rights activist claims there’s a false belief in this county that disabled people don’t need parking spaces.

It comes as figures from Clare County Council reveal that 96 parking tickets were issued to motorists who parked in a disabled space without a valid permit last year.

They formed part of around 2,000 tickets issued since March – while €78,400 was collected in fines by the local authority last year, marking a rise of €8,000 on the previous 12 months.
