Clare Rents Continue To Rise

The cost of renting a home in Clare is continuing to rise, though at a slightly slower rate than the national average.

The latest rental price report by Daft.ie shows a rise of just over 11-and-a-half percent in the first three months of this year.

The average advertised rent in Clare is now €677.

The study also shows that with the average price of renting a one-bed apartment in Clare at around €454, it’s more expensive to rent smaller properties than to make mortgage repayments.

Economist Ronan Lyons is the author of the latest Daft report and he says rents in Clare are returning to peak levels of ten years ago.

With fresh calls on the Housing Minister today to introduce rent certainty, Ennis estate agent Douglas Hurley of DNG O’Sullivan Hurley, has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that may not be the answer.
