Clare Postmasters Call for Common Sense Approach

Clare postmasters are calling on the Communications Minister 'to use common sense' an ensure their futures are protected.

Minister Pat Rabbitte meets with a delegation from the Irish Postmasters Union today, as they warn that half of the country's 1,100 postal outlets are under threat of closure if government policies aren't changed.

They want the planned elimination of cash welfare payments from 2017 to be suspended, and for An Post to pull back from talks with supermarket giants for postal services to be made available there.
