Clare Post Offices ‘In Difficult Position’ Over Closures

A retired Cooraclare post mistress says the loss of any more rural post offices would be keenly felt in Clare, but admits it’s a difficult decision for the operators.

It comes after it was revealed that 14 existing postmasters and mistresses around Clare have been offered voluntary redundancies by An Post.

The company insists there will be no compulsory closure of offices and the move is in the wake of talks with the Irish Postmasters Union.
