Clare People Wearing Coats At Home To Save On Energy Costs Says SVP

The Clare area President of Saint Vincent de Paul says people are being forced to wear their coats at home because they’re trapped in fuel poverty.

It comes after research revealed that three quarters of Irish households spend more than 10 percent of their incomes heating their homes.

The study, which was carried out by One Big Switch, also found that a quarter of people left their heaters off in winter to save on costs, while a third reported to be in extreme stress in meeting their energy bills.
