Clare Native Dies Aged 113

The East Clare woman who has lived longer than any other Irish person has died.

Feakle-native Kathleen Snavely, was born as Kathleen Hayes on February 16th, 1902.

At the age of 19, she travelled alone to the US where she set up life and became a successful businesswoman.

In recent years, she had lived at a nursing home in New York State and it was there that she passed away yesterday at the age of 113 years and 140 days.

Kathleen Snavely was the 16th oldest person in the world, and in March she formally became the longest-living person to have been born on this island.
