Motorists in Clare are being urged to continue to drive with care today, as Storm Francis sweeps through the country.

Two separate yellow weather alerts for wind and rain are in place for the county until 9 o’clock, with gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour in some places, and up to 50 millimetres of rainfall expcted.

A status orange rain warning is in place until 6 this evening for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal, meanwhile.

11 thousand homes, farms and businesses are without power across the country and the ESB says crews have been mobilised and all power should be restored today.

Gavin Gallagher from Met Eireann says the entire country will be affected by Storm Francis.
