Clare Man To Trek 1,400 km Across Unexplored Siberia

A Clare man is to trek 1,400 km across Siberia between the two coldest inhabited spots in the world.

Anthony Galvin is in full training for his mammoth task, which he will embark on early next year.

He believes it will be the coldest journey undertaken since the so-called Worst Journey in the World in 1911, when scientists Bowers, Wilson and Cherry-Garrard trekked Antarctica.

Anthony will undertake the challenge with a friend from the Netherlands and he believes they’ll be the first people in history to do it.
