Clare Live Register Drops Below 5,000 For First Time In 10 Years

The number of people signing on in Clare has dipped below 5,000 for the first time in over a decade.

According to the CSO’s live register figures, there are now just under 4,700 people on the dole in this county, representing a 9% drop in the past month.

In total, there are now 4,690 people in dole queues around this county – that’s a drop of 448 in a month and just over 700 in a year.

It means that, for the first time since January 2008, there are now less than 5,000 people signing on in Clare.

The biggest single drop, as is usual, was experienced in the county town where 273 people entered the workforce in September.

There are now 2,549 on the live register in Ennis, marking a 10% drop in a month and a 15% decrease annually.

The numbers signing on in North Clare eased by 40 last month to 727, while in the West, there was a drop of 54 to 734.

East Clare also saw a signficant drop in live register figures, where 80 people left dole queues in September – that’s an 11 percent drop and means there are now 680 people signing on there.
