A Clare beach has become the first in the country to trial drone technology in its beach patrol operations.
Lifeguards at Spanish Point will have a drone at their disposal this summer, which aims to boost response times.
The machine, supplied by DroneSAR, will be deployed in the case of someone signalling from the sea to assess whether it’s an emergency or not.
