Clare Learner Drivers Dealing With Long Waits For Tests

Some learner drivers in Clare are facing waits of nearly six months to sit their tests.

Figures from the Road Safety Authority show the longest average wait in Clare is in Ennis, where people are waiting an average of 16 weeks and up to 25.

In Kilrush and Shannon the longest waits are 19 weeks.

Meanwhile, separate figures obtained by Independent Senator Victor Boyhan show no tests were carried out in either of those two towns in the week ending August 18th.

The Road Safety Authority has confirmed that there are no testers headquartered in Kilrush or Shannon, with just two in Ennis, while last year saw 2,108 tests carried out in the county, over half of those in the county town.
