Clare IFOI Chair Says CETA A Possible ‘Perfect Storm’ For Beef Farmers

The Clare Chair of Independent Farmers of Ireland says the ratifying of a trade agreement between Canada and the EU would present a ‘perfect storm’ for beef farmers here.

The CETA deal requires the backing of parliaments across all EU member states to be fully operational, with a Dáil vote on the matter being suspended until January after concerns were raised by a number of Green Party TDs.

Seamus Shannon claims the trade deal will allow 50,000 tonnes of Canadian Beef into the EU market.
