Clare IFA Chair Warns Rural Policing Report “Must Not Gather Dust On Shelf”

The Clare Chair of the IFA is warning the newly published Oireachtas report on rural policing and crime must not sit on a shelf gathering dust.

The report has outlined a number of recommendations, including more patrols in rural areas, increased funding for text alert systems and better use of social media by Gardai to improve engagement with isolated communities.

It focuses particularly on smaller communities that have lost their Garda stations – in recent years, nine stations across Clare have closed permanently.
